The Affordable Care Act (ACA) creates a new model of healthcare delivery in which value takes precedence over volume. It is also driving a dramatic increase in the participation of physicians at the executive and service delivery levels to help hospitals and healthcare systems work through the multitude of choices involved in this transformation.

This article looks at one hospital's innovative approach to integrating physicians into decision-making at all levels of the organization: establishment of a physician collaboration committee of the Board of Directors.
