The Hospitals and Health Systems Executive Compensation and Benefits Survey

This total compensation survey covers 23 executive positions.

About the Survey

The Hospitals and Health Systems Executive Compensation and Benefits Survey provides compensation and benefits data for 23 executive positions. In 2020, a total of 169 organizations from 37 states participated. Three main reports are generated from data collected: national, Upstate New York, and rural/critical access hospitals (top 10 positions). The national report includes an executive summary noting current trends and findings. Participants are able to benchmark against multiple variables to determine whether executive positions are competitively positioned. For over 20 years, this survey was conducted by Yaffe and Company. In September 2020, Pearl Meyer acquired Yaffe and Company.

Compensation data is broken down by:

  • Full-Time Equivalent Count
  • Geographical Region
  • Number of Beds
  • Total Net Patient Revenue

Key Data Reported:

  • Base Salary
  • Total Cash Compensation
  • Incentive Plans (short- and long-term)
  • Paid Time Off
  • Contract Information
  • Benefits (including health/life/disability insurance, long-term care, and supplemental retirement programs)
  • Perquisites (including housing, automobile, club memberships, financial counseling, physical exam, and spousal compensation)
