ABOUT THE SURVEY
CHiPS One is the new name for two long-standing CHiPS Surveys (the Professional & Managerial Survey and the SalesPlus Survey of Customer Focused Positions). Like these two foundational surveys, CHiPS One provides domestic U.S. compensation information on employees in Research & Development, Engineering, Information Technology, Sales & Customer-Facing, and Core Support (Communications, Finance, HR, Legal, etc.) functions. CHiPS One is a best-in-class compensation information solution offering a rare combination of accuracy and affordability.

All elements of the employee pay package are collected and reported giving you the information needed to analyze your competitive position and compensation mix from a total compensation perspective.

DATA REPORTED
CHiPS One is the most comprehensive total compensation survey currently available. No other survey provides total compensation data on as broad a group of positions. In addition to base salary information, CHiPS One reports eligibility rates, participation rates, and dollar values for each of the following elements of compensation:

  • Short term incentives, including annual bonuses/sales commissions, lump sum merit bonuses, team-based incentives, recognition awards, and gainsharing awards.
  • Cash profit sharing.
  • Long term incentives including stock option awards, restricted stock, other grants, stock price based awards, and non-stock price based awards.

Data is reported for all companies combined as well as for 7 industry groups, including:

  • Computer / Peripheral / Storage / Components
  • Semiconductor / Semiconductor Equipment
  • Software / Internet
  • Communications / Networking Hardware
  • Tax Exempt / Government Chartered / Defense
  • Telecommunications Services

Providing participants with the highest quality total compensation information is a key objective of the survey team. To ensure we meet this objective, we have implemented a rigorous quality assurance process that includes:

  • Job matching guidelines based on clear and concise job descriptions, level guide matrices, education and experience profiles, typical population distributions, and scope definitions.
  • Survey Account Manager review of participant input using a series of statistical quality assurance programs. Your survey responses are analyzed to identify potential matching discrepancies, and our proprietary Quality Assurance Report is forwarded to you early in the process for your review. Your Account Manager is available to review and discuss your Quality Assurance Report.
